| Welcome to Plan UK’s new Key Stage 2 resource for 8–11 year olds which looks at the idea of identity and how it can be used on a global scale |
|
By considering a range of the elements that make up identity, children begin to think about what makes them unique while also considering how their identity connects them to the rest of the world. Students are asked to collect identity memories and objects to symbolise their sense of self. Background: For the past two years Plan has been running a campaign for universal birth registration to encourage governments and parents to work to address this issue. In 2006 Plan UK also ran a web linking project on this subject bringing together students from across the UK and Africa to discuss the importance of identity, rights and responsibilities. The depth of response from those students made the message clear – identity is a truly global concept. |
