Water in Kenya

1 in 3 people in the world suffer from some form of water scarcity, and with water usage set to rise by 40% in the next 20 years there is likely to be an effect in the UK.

This scheme of work, which accompanies the Teachers TV programme Water in Kenya, begins to address the wider issues of worldwide water shortages.

Students will begin by assessing what we need water for and how we use it, to the impact of waters shortages in the developing world. They will research the topic independently and using case studies in a variety of media and use group work, discussion, and decision making skills to extract information for the use of report writing and developing a board game.

The materials are developed through a scheme of work for key stage 3, consisting of 4 lessons with accompanying resources. The lessons are all clearly mapped to national curriculum attainment targets.
