Togo - making choices

Togo: making choices

This scheme of work was developed from the ‘For the price of a bike’ report on child trafficking in Togo. The report highlights the violation of human rights that is occurring as a result of choices young children are forced to make in Togo.

Whilst the child trafficking issue would not be appropriate for Key stage 1 and 2, it is important for older students to realise that these choices are being made by their counterparts in Africa. The lessons promote youth advocacy and an understanding of human rights. Students are encouraged to think about how they can engage with Togo and how their choices could affect Togo’s development.

The materials are developed through 4 schemes of work for the different key stages. Each scheme consists of 4 lessons with accompanying resources. The lessons are all clearly mapped to national curriculum attainment targets.
