MFL Key Stage 3 French and Spanish

This programme of work contains six lessons that are mapped to the QCA UK Key Stage 3 MFL curriculum (French and Spanish).

The resources are comprehensive - everything required to teach this unit of work should be found either within this document or linked to it. Testimonies have been drawn from child experiences around the world.
 
The case study material for the lessons come from Plan's Make the Link, Be the Change climate change project.

Learning Outcomes

Students should be able to:

Talk about countries affected by climate change

Understand the impact of climate change on the life of young people in other countries

Create a project on your school to find out if it is environmentally sustainable

Give ideas to make your school more environmentally sustainable

To say what you do to protect the environment (Lesson 4)

To be able to talk about the negative impact of our lifestyle on other communities and on the environment

To understand that countries and communities need to work together to solve environmental problems

How does the project enhance the MFL KS3 curriculum?

Providing the opportunity for cross-curricular projects

Creating a relevant, enjoyable and successful learning experience including an awareness of social, cultural and geographical aspects of the countries where a particular language is spoken

Providing opportunities for students to exchange and compare experiences with pupils in other countries

Providing learning materials at Key Stage 3 to feed into the new GCSE course at Key Stage 4 which features climate change (Métro 4 textbook - Module 10)
