| Ethiopia - real people, real lives |
| Children always want to learn from one another. It is even more exciting if they learn by sharing, through question and answers, with real children in another part of the world - in Ethiopia |
|
This resource gives the teachers and students an insight into the shared childhood through the eyes of children from the UK and Ethiopia in this mutually empowering and easy to use learning resource. The resource has been designed as a key stage 2 literacy resource, but can be adapted for use in other key stages and for different subjects. It includes 6 non-fiction text types, a map of the world marking Ethiopia and the UK, as well as 35 photos depicting UK and Ethiopian life with Q&A captions. The resource was developed in conjunction with 4 schools (2 in the UK and 2 in Ethiopia) providing a comparative rural and non-rural way of life. The information was gathered through a process of pupils asking and replying to questions about each others lives and sharing photos. The resource is also available for use in Ethiopian schools in a hard copy format. |
