Make the Link, Be the Change

These Key Stage 3 resources accompany the Make the Link, Be the Change climate change project.

The resources consist of a 14-lesson syllabus with over 20 accompanying worksheets bringing children's voices from Plan communities in developing countries into the debate.

The resources are designed to be used in conjunction with the Planschoolslink.org website - a education networking site we have developed to allow children to communicate directly on climate change issues. To gain access to this website please email plan-ed@plan-international.org.uk.

Alternatively the resources can be used as standalone lesson plans and worksheets to aid students' understanding of the likely impacts of climate change.

The resources dovetail with the Children in a Changing Climate programme which will lead up to a portfolio of work being displayed at the UN climate change negotiations in Copenhagen in December 2009.

We have developed two schemes of work targeting 11-14 year olds (one mapped to the UK curriculum and one scheme for international participants). These 14 lessons provide the platform for learning around the key strands of climate change: impacts, adaptation, mitigation and advocacy.

Please follow the arrows below to access the scheme of work. All supplementary worksheets and issue files are accessible via hyperlinks to the Plan-ed resource centre. The resources include an outline of the project, FAQs for teachers, lesson plans, teachers' notes and evaluation forms.
