Shoot Nations 2006 - JourneysThe first Shoot Nations competition, run by Shoot Experience, a photography event management company, was in July 2006 with the theme 'Journeys'. 250 people from 36 different countries took part. An exhibition of selected photos was held at the Association of Photographers Gallery in London from 12th to 18th August 2006 to celebrate International Youth Day. Shoot Nations 2007 - GovernanceShoot Nations 2007 saw the competition expand as Shoot Experience joined forces with children's charity Plan International. The theme was 'Governance', engaging young people around the world to express their thoughts on power, control and participation. There were 1,500 entries from 85 countries. An international roadshow of exhibitions and workshops followed and a group of young photographers gave a presentation to the UN on International Youth Day. After the presentation in New York an exhibition and workshop tour visited four countries - London, Berlin, Burkina Faso and Delhi. The tour allowed young people in each participating to learn photography and advocacy skills and see their photos displayed alongside the main exhibition. More info on Shoot Nations 2007 |
